LightBase is part of a new database generation known as “post-realtional” that offers a
way to quickly develop applications and a powerful tridimentional data server
with text recovery as well as a report and aplication server. At the same time, it also offers the
necessary resources to support big projects and an easy way to develop quick,
simple, and efficient solutions. Now, LightBase is also ideal for .NET platform.
LightBase Provider for .NET (LBDP .NET) introduces LightBase as an ODMG
(Object Data Management Group) object-oriented database.Currently, the ODMG 3.0 is a
“fact” default among OO management systems databases – supporting an object model with a database functionality –
an object consulting laguange (OQL – Obejct Query Language), an object
definition language (ODL – Obejct Definition Language) and a programming
laguage.
It is possible to execute various commands with LBDP .NET, such as the
OQL for the consultation of LightBase databases. Moreover, other OML (Object Manipulation Language)
commands were added to ODMG’s original specification. These new commands allow the modification of
databases informations through INSERT, UPDATE and DELETE comands a well as take
advantage of the fulltext retrieval that Lightbase offers.
With LBDP .NET, users have access to the .NET native types as well as
the Lightbase’s native types.
LightBase’s native types can be converted into .NET native types and
vice versa. LightBase’s native types offer more flexibility in the manipulation of multidimentional fields and
complex fields, such as sound and image.
It is also possible to map the multidimentional models into ADO.NET
bidimentional model and vice versa. This allows LightBase to be used with any visual control or .NET compatible tools –
DataGrid, Crystal Reports, etc.
Light Infocon offers IT professionals with a new OO applications
development platform - with fulltext retrieval – using any .NET language, with
the productivity, performance and scalability that LightBase offers.
